Bolsover Debt Project

The Bolsover Gateway Sculpture

The Bolsover Debt project was introduced in May 2001. The Coalfield Regeneration Trust, with one debt advisor, initially funded it. This project has grown, witnessed by the achievements of the advisors in expanding the procedure.

Objectives

The objective of the Bolsover debt project is to offer similar services to those available in other districts. Bolsover has long been the forgotten area with very little advice provision.

The residents of Bolsover prior to the outreach service offered by the project had no alternative but to travel to Clay Cross, Chesterfield or Staveley for debt advice.

One of the largest problems in the area is poverty and all the problems that have become associated with poverty. This is apparent from the amount of trade the doorstep lenders have within the areas (companies with astonishing interest rates and total disregard to the client's ability to attain further credit).

The aim of the Bolsover debt project is to reach as many of the Bolsover residents, with financial worries of any size, as is physically possible. This would include employing and training the necessary amount of advisors to fulfill the demand of the Bolsover residents.
