Citizens Advice film wins gold at IVCA awards
29th March 2006
A film produced by national charity Citizens Advice has scooped a gold award at the prestigious Internal Visual Communication Association (IVCA) awards at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor Hotel on 24th March.
A glimpse of the future was produced to highlight changes in the way the charity network needs to deliver its services to reach more people who need advice, by becoming more responsive, easier to access and making use of new technologies. The film follows the story of Nina, made redundant in the early stages of pregnancy and with mounting debts. It shows her accessing CAB advice at a kiosk at her doctor's surgery, being coached to give evidence via video link at her employment tribunal and receiving CAB appointment confirmations by text message.
Lara Yude, Head of Corporate Communications at Citizens Advice, who commissioned the film produced by The Edge Picture Company said:
"A glimpse of the future has been successful in painting this changing vision for our future to the Citizens Advice services 28,000 staff and volunteers. It is also being used extensively to encourage new funding relationships and partnerships."
The IVCA awards are internationally acknowledged benchmarks in effective communication, judged by leading practitioners in communications.
The film was highlighted by the judges as "an emotive and inspirational view of the impact the Citizens Advice service can have on those needing help, which managed to cleverly embed glimpses of potential new technologies within a simple, but moving drama."
