    • Diwali Night, the Chinese New Year and New Year's Eve (1am - 7am)
  • Penalties can be up to a £5,000 fine and six months jail
  • The measures also make it illegal for anyone under 18 to carry fireworks in public places
  • Shops cannot sell fireworks louder than 120 decibels under the new laws.

Firework injury figures published in 2004 show that 1,136 people had to be treated in casualty last year. Most accidents were minor. There was a fall in the number of accidents in the street and from air bombs, but there was a slight rise in accidents at family or private parties.
