This means there are now more phones than people in the UK! Over 1.5 billion text messages are now sent every month, amounting to one message per day for every mobile customer in the UK. This costs customers about £150 million per month or £1.8 billion per year! The average mobile customer makes about 90 minutes of calls per month. This means people in the UK now make a staggering 4.5 billion minutes of calls per month from their mobiles. About 1 billion hours per year! About 63 million minutes of calls per month are made to international destinations, amounting to about 764 million minutes per year!
